The Grand Canyon Covered In Smoke

Hi Folks, I am back with the second segment of my travels through the great SouthWest. I left Vegas and drove to the Grand Canyon National Park and was a little disappointed when I got there as the smoke from the fires from California had made it's way to the giant gorge. This made for some interesting photography; not really sharp images but the sunsets were special. I hope you enjoy. I brought my bicycle with me and made a day of it as I rode along the South Rim up to Hermits Rest.

As you can see the smoke was pretty thick.

The Turkey Vulture were out soaring over the canyon.

I was caught in the middle of another downpour where the temperature was close to 100 degrees. That was the third time this summer that this had happed to me. Chico, Vegas and now the Grand Canyon.

The Colorado River cutting through the Canyon way way down below.

After the storm has passed.
And then the sun started to set.

And then it was gone.

I captured some nice orange colors with the sunset. Much of this was owing to the smog from the fires in California.
